TUCUMAN-SALTA–JUJUY

An amazing 10 day overland, travelling through northwest Argentina, visiting Tafi del Valle, Ruinas Quilmes, Cafayate, Salta, San Antonio de Los Cobres, Jujuy, Purmamarca, Maimara, Tilcara and Humahuaca and its traditional and wonderful carnivals. Along this journey, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy outodoor activities as tekking, paragliding, horseback riding, mountain bike, tyrolese descent , bungee jumping, rappel, jet skiing, boat trips, kayaking and rafting.
Schedule / Details:
Day1: San Miguel de Tucumán - Amaicha del Valle:
Group meeting at the city of San Miguel de Tucumán (10:00 hs), intrudtion to tour leaders and assistants. Departure to Tafí del Valle. During this journey, we will appreciate some of the most important sugar refineries of Tucumán. As we start ascending, we will go into the fantastic “yunga” or subtropical rainforest of Tucuman. Arrival at Tafi del Valle, alter visiting this town, we will continue our overland entering the Calchaquíes Valleys and finally arriving at the pleasing village of Amaicha del Valle. Free night and overnight at campsite. Meals included: lunch, afternoon snack and dinner (w/beverages).
Day 2: Amaicha del Valle – Cafayate:
After breakfast, we will get ready to continue our overland to Cafayate, visiting the Quilmes Ruins, and important prehispanical settlement of the Calchaquí culture. At evening, we will arrive at Cafayate, an important town of this valley and famous for its vineyards: Etchart, Michel Torino, La Rosa, among others. Free night and overnight at chosen hostel.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack (w/beverages).
Day 3: Cafayate - Dique Cabra Corral:
Early in the morning, after having breakfast we will drive to the reservoir of Dique Cabra Corral. Along this journey, we will visit some of the most attractive landscapes of Salta, such as the natural formations of Quebrada de las Conchas, Garganta del Diablo and the Amphitheatre. We will finally arrive at Dique Cabra Corral at noon. Overnight at campsite.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner (w/beverages).
Day 4: Dique Cabra Corral – Salta:
We will spend this day travelling through the most amazing landscapes, where you will have the chance to enjoy some the optional activities such as trekking, paragliding, horseback riding, mountain bike, tyrolese descent , bungee jumping, rappel, jet skiing, boat trips, kayaking and rafting. At evening, we will travel to the city of Salta. Free night and overnight at chosen hostel.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack (w/beverages).
Day 5: Salta:
Free day to rest, enjoy the city,or other
optional activities. Overnight at hostel.

Day 6: Salta - San Antonio de Los Cobres:
After breakfast, we will continue our journey
travelling along the way of the famous “Tren a
las Nubes” up to the pictorial small town of San
Antonio de Los Cobres. Through this journey, we
will watch some of the viaducts corresponding to
the railways, where the most important are "El
Toro", the longest one with 260 m, at 23 m
height and "La Polvorilla", 223 long and 63
height. Once in San Antonio de Los Cobres we
will have a free afternoon to visit the town.
Overnight at campsite.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch, afternoon
snack and dinner (w/beverages).
Day 7: San Antonio de Los Cobres - Tilcara:
We will drive along the famous route 40 to the
Quebrada de Humahuaca. We will visit Purmamarca
and its Cerro de los 7 Colores (Hill of the 7
Colours) and continue our trip to Maimara and
its Paleta del Pintor.
We will finally arrive at Tilcara, where we will
stay overnight at a campsite.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch, afternoon
snack and dinner (w/beverages).
Day 8: Tilcara – Humahuaca:
After breakfast, we will go trekking to
Tilcara´s Pucara, an impressive Indian fortress.
After lunch, we will continue our overland to
Humahuaca, where we will stay to enjoy the
Quebrada carnivals. Traditional folk night
and local meals. Overnight at campsite.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch and afternoon
snack (w/beverages).
Day 9: Humahuaca:
This day we will enjoy our traditional northern
folk, charangos, erkes, bombos and all the
magical carnival of Jujuy. Night at campsite.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch and afternoon
snack (w/beverages).
Day 10: Humahuaca - Jujuy:
After lunch, we will return to the city of San
Salvador de Jujuy. Arrival at San Salvador de
Jujuy at 19:00 hs. aprox.
Meals included: breakfast and lunch
